Family Connection is a support and informational network for families who have children with special healthcare needs.

Since 1990 Family Connection has carefully connected more than 27,000 parents in South Carolina with trained Support Parents who also have children with special needs.

Family Connection offers a diverse array of free programs and services that cater to a wide variety of disabilities and special needs.

These include support groups, family social events and community awareness activities from its six offices throughout the state.

This workshop will review ABA techniques commonly used when delivering early interventions services for children diagnosed with autism and other developmental delays.

SA03 Building the Team - Skills for Parent-Teacher Communication
This workshop will provide the participans with enhanced communication skills so that both parent and teacher can understand each other better for the benefit of the child. Tips for general education and special education teachers to better communicate with parents of children with disabilities will be shared. The workshop will also include tips on how to help eliminate the barriers sometimes involved in communicating about the student achievement progress and goals.

SA04 Special Needs Trusts for Families with Children with Special Needs
This workshop will provide information about estate planning documents, and the special provisions which should be included in those documents to provide for and protect family members, particularly those with disabilities and special needs.

This workshop will discuss the varied presentations of food allergy including both IgE and non-lgE mediated food allergy and treatments. It will also include potential nutritional consequences that can occur with food elimination diets and strategies to address nutritional deficiencies.
